Cheryl Malloy, owner and founder of whatworks, worked in law enforcement for over twenty years helping people live their safest lives. In 2014 Cheryl decided to take a new approach to helping people, and got her AFAA certification for group and personal training. She continued to take fitness courses in TRX, Spinning and Barre. Her wellness studies include Reiki Level One. She is a graduate of The Institute for Integrated Nutrition as well as a certified Specialist in Fitness Nutrition from the International Sports Sciences Association.
Having a small studio allows Cheryl to work with people whose fitness requirements vary greatly. This includes those faced with sports injuries and physical disabilities. She is a triathlete and marathon runner who also works with young and seasoned athletes for sport specific training. See our Class Schedule to see Cheryl’s class offerings.
Cheryl fulfilled her dreams by creating whatworks, a boutique gym and whatworks Next Door an events and learning center where she helps people live healthier lives through fitness, wellness, community, caring, and relationships.
“My goal is to make a difference in someone every day through the classes I teach.
I work with clients to find what works best for them, at the pace that works best for them and gets them the best results.”

Lisa has been a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher since 1995 and a few years ago obtained her degree in Exercise Science and Wellness and is an ACSM-Certified Trainer.
Lisa’s yoga classes focus on physical alignment, core strengthening and coordinated breathwork, though the true essence of each class is for every student to discover the physical, mental, and emotional connection of being in the present moment.
Mark Linhard – Gloves, Mitts & More Instructor
Mark boxed from an early age, and shared this love with his son who also grew up boxing. Mark has trained adolescents in boxing technique and brings his expertise to whatworks as a means to provide a comprehensive workout. Mark is available for pop-up classes only.
